Putting the real back in real estate
Founded by Kansas City native Philip Allen, Homezena was built to challenge the outdated playbook of real estate. After years of watching everyday homeowners lose thousands in agent commissions, Philip set out to build a better way — one where you stay in control, save more of your own money and still feel supported.
We're starting here, in the Kansas City metro, because this is our home. It’s where we’re testing, learning and listening — to prove that everyday people can confidently manage their home sale or search, all in one app.
No commissions. No pressure.
Just the tools and technology you need to make informed decisions and keep more of your home’s value where it belongs: with you.
K.C. Born and K.C. Built
Homezena was born in K.C., and it shows. We’re not some national chain trying to break into your backyard. We’re already here. From Brookside to Blue Springs, Waldo to Wyandotte, we know the rhythms of this city and the drive of its people.
We believe Kansas Citians don’t need a middleman to make moves — they just need the right platform. So that’s what we built.
Homezena is a modern, local-first approach to buying and selling your home — one that respects your hustle and helps you keep more of what you’ve earned.
You’ve got the tools. You’ve got the smarts. You’ve got Homezena. And we’ve got your back — right here in our hometown.
Tech veteran.
Barbecue champ.
Real estate rule breaker.
Philip Allen has lived in Olathe for 35 years, but his Kansas City roots run even deeper. He came here for college (Rockhurst grad, double major in computer science and econ) and never left. Why would he? K.C. has everything his family could ask for — good schools, great people and the best barbecue on Earth.
Philip is a tech guy at heart. He helped build the first-ever electronic tax filing system at H&R Block (before the internet even existed) and later served as CTO for a real estate tech company. But the idea for Homezena started at home. After realizing how much money he lost on agent commissions when selling his first house, he tried selling one himself. The whole process was easier than he expected, and he had massive savings to show for it.
That experience, plus a real shake-up in the real estate world, inspired him to build a smarter, simpler way for people to buy and sell homes without giving away their hard-earned equity.
He already knew that the perfect place to launch his idea was right here in Kansas City — where people have common sense, an affinity for DIY and openness to new ideas in the name of five-figure savings.
When he’s not shaking up the real estate norm, you might find Philip and his wife Lynda manning the margarita bar on the patio at their favorite neighborhood spot, Casa Amigos. Or at home where he’s firing up their competition-grade smoker to fix backyard barbecue for their friends and family. (His burnt ends have won trophies.)
